Play Along: Multiple Exercises on One Progression

Play Along. move your awareness

The part 1 lesson starts off with exercises focused on internalizing the chords. It then moves to focus on mindfully moving your awareness.  This will also help you familiarize yourself with the harmony before working on expressive phrases in part 2.  Press play on the video below and play along.

Part two uses the same progression with a focus on building more expressive phrases. At the end, I leave the progression by itself for you to play what you want. I recommend recording yourself and listening back for best results.

This chord progression, while lending itself to a wide range of ways to practice, is especially relevant to using pentatonic scales, major-scales.

Many musicians miss out on these nuts and bolts, underestimating how much they can do by practicing a relatively small amount of material.
